Warning: Life Under Construction

Did we end up striking after today's company emergency meeting? Nah! Our powers-that-be stopped our 401(k) matching, implied that this will be year 7 of no pay raise, and gave a lot of positive-thinking mantras. To be fair, those on the board ( the CEO, one of the sales VP, etc) gave themselves almost 20% pay cuts. (Is it a pay reduction or they just won't take a bonus this year?) It's tough to fault the new owners on a charge of greed if they are reducing their income to fight for the success of our business. (Congress should be so conscientious as they give themselves yet another pay raise during our nation's economic crisis.)

So we all left the meeting unhappy about the reduction in benefits but glad that we have a job. Hope of better things to come is keep us from just quitting. That and no one else seems to be hiring at the moment ...
